BMW Motorrad is preparing to introduce the BMW F 450 GS, a new mid-capacity adventure bike, to the Indian market. Launched in January 2026, the bike will compete directly with the KTM 390 Adventure and Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. Local production at the Hosur plant in collaboration with TVS has already generated excitement for this model. For mid-segment ADV enthusiasts, this bike could prove to be a major game-changer.

New Premium Option in the sub-500cc ADV Segment in 2026

BMW F 450 GS is being positioned as the new entry-level GS model in BMW’s adventure lineup, replacing the current G 310 GS. The bike was first unveiled at EICMA 2025 and has generated tremendous excitement in the global ADV market ever since. Its India launch in January 2026 will mark the arrival of a new premium option in the sub-500 cc adventure segment, further intensifying competition in the category.

BMW F 450 GS is instantly recognizable with its classic GS DNA, including the X-shaped LED headlamp, muscular build, and beak-style front end. Its compact size and upright riding position offer excellent control both off-road and in urban traffic. Even new riders can easily handle it thanks to BMW’s design, which offers both impressive visual presence and adventure capability.

New 420 cc Parallel twin engine

BMW F 450 GS features a new 420 cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine that produces 48 hp and 43 Nm of torque. It features a 135-degree crankpin offset and a balance shaft, reducing vibrations and delivering a more powerful exhaust sound. This engine is designed for both highway cruising and off-road riding, delivering A2-friendly performance, ensuring confident handling across all terrains.

This engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox, with a slipper and assist clutch as standard, improving stability during downshifts. According to BMW, the bike delivers a fuel efficiency of approximately 3.8 liters per 100 km, giving a potential range of over 350 km on a full tank. These figures make it even more attractive for touring-focused riders.

Auto Clutch Technology

One of the BMW F 450 GS’s most distinctive technologies is its semi-automatic Easy Ride Clutch system, which significantly reduces clutch lever usage during low-speed maneuvers. This feature makes it a standout in the adventure segment due to the comfort the rider receives from clutch handling in traffic or on technical off-road sections. Shift Assistant Pro is standard on the GS Trophy variant, while it will be available as an option on lower trims.

BMW F 450 GS bike is based on an all-new tubular steel frame and its kerb weight is said to be around 178 kg, which is considered quite competitive in the segment. Suspension duties are handled by KYB’s 43 mm USD forks and a rear monoshock, while higher variants get an adjustable setup, providing a better balance between on-road stability and off-road playfulness. Braking system includes a front Brembo and rear ByBre setup along with electronic safety nets like cornering ABS, traction control and Dynamic Brake Control. Features like a 6.5-inch TFT screen, Bluetooth, navigation, heated grips and USB-C charging make it a tech-loaded ADV.

Four options from Basic to GS Trophy

In international markets, including India, the BMW F 450 GS will be available in four different versions. Basic, Exclusive, Sport, and GS Trophy. Adventure-ready features like off-road-focused footpegs, an aluminum bash plate, hand guards, and cutting-edge suspension hardware are included in the top-spec GS Trophy and Sport models. It has a strong presence in the ADV market thanks to distinctive GS color options like Racing Red and Racing Blue Metallic, which further improve its visual appeal and premium appeal.

Riding Modes and Tech-Pack

Rain, Road, and Enduro are the standard riding modes for the BMW F 450 GS. Higher models will feature Enduro Pro mode, which offers more aggressive settings for serious off-roading. These modes, combined with ABS and switchable traction control, control grip, throttle response, and braking feel for different surfaces, making adventure riding safer and more confident—even for new riders.
